When I think of traditional Christmas, my mind goes to snowy, small-town America. Maybe it’s because I’m from the Midwest and we almost always have a white Christmas; it’s usually cold, so that’s what a traditional Christmas looks like.
What’s better than a true mountain town at Christmastime or ANYTIME if it’s as cool as Jackson!
If you want to be surrounded by glorious views, picturesque scenery, and loads of charm, Jackson Wyoming is the place for you. Visit at Christmastime, or anytime, and get ready to be blown away by beauty.
I’ve traveled a lot within the United States and I can say that Jackson Wyoming and the surrounding areas are some of the most genuinely beautiful places I’ve seen.
The Grand Tetons are breathtaking – you won’t believe the way the majestic snow-capped Tetons jut out of the ground with no warning. There are no foothills! Just rugged peaks under the bright skies and shining sun.
What To Do In the Jackson Hole Area?
If you like
I1 stopped at Oxbow Bend here one night at dusk because all my research said Oxbow Bend is a must-see in the Grand Tetons. This famed site for photographers and artists did not disappoint! While we were there, we visited with a working artist who was painting a watercolor of the range from the back of her trailer. She had been out a few consecutive nights to get just the right view of the Tetons. Once we saw her, we knew we were in the right place. The beauty here is unsurpassed and it’s not something you can experience through a photo. You have to go here and get the “feels”! Once you do, you’ll get it.

Jackson also offers endless winter activities. There is so much to do in Jackson in Winter. You can experience everything from snowmobiling to downhill skiing to cross-country skiing to horse riding through the snow.
Even if you’re not into doing a bunch of activities, what’s so great about Jackson in Winter is that you can do nothing at all except enjoy the beautiful scenery. How about an authentic sleigh ride through the snow-covered mountains?!
Doesn’t that sound incredible? Especially if you cap off the ride with a dip in the HOT TUB!!

Jackson Wyoming is located in Western Wyoming between Grand Teton National Park & Yellowstone National Park. Go to Jackson and you’ll have the opportunity to visit two incredible national parks in one trip.
That’s exactly what we did when we were in Jackson. We stayed in Jackson and made the 10-minute drive into Grand Teton National Park every day. Usually twice at day, at dawn and dusk – the best times to see wildlife.
Is Jackson Hole and Jackson the Same Thing?
“Jackson Hole” refers to the entire valley beginning six miles south of Yellowstone National Park following the Snake River south to Hoback Junction. When people mention “Jackson“, that commonly refers to the main town or downtown area of the valley.

From their website: Many of the museums full mount game trophies, which were taken from around Jackson Hole, can still be seen – some even in front of their original painted dioramas. In addition to these indigenous animals, there are numerous others from around the world, many of which were collected by us.
Most of the antique cowboy artifacts also come from Wyoming and many have historical significance; Hank William’s 1800’s buffalo coat that he wore on the Lone Wolf album; two Harrison Crandall colorized photographs taken in Grand Teton National Park in the forties; and eight original Edward Curtis portrait photogravures of American Indians taken circa 1890. Our largest gun is an .82 caliber rampart gun from India forged in the 1700’s.

You’ll be in the center of the action if you choose to stay in the town of Jackson. If you like being within walking distance to a lot of shops, bars and restaurants, then you’ll enjoy staying in town.
My top pick is the Mountain Modern in Jackson because I like to be in center of town. Plus the price is definitely right at $117-$135 for week before Christmas and there’s a mini fridge in room + indoor pool & hot tub. Yasss!
380 W Broadway
Or, if you’re looking to use up Marriott points, stay at Springhill Suites.
