The Face Behind The Blog

I’m a wanderer at heart who loves to explore the USA! It’s my goal to visit all 50 states & all 63 of our US National Parks. I’ve been to countless cities, towns and parks from sea to shining sea! and there’s still more to see!

Why follow me? I’m a trip-planning pro who loves to dig into the details! In my former life, I spent more than 20 years working in the financial services arena and learned a lot about money and prosperity along the way.

As a financial expert, I automatically plan trips from a budget-ish point of view. This is where the PROSPEROUS portion of my site comes in: I’ll show you how to have a great time traveling the USA without spending a fortune!

In addition to running this site, I’m also a freelance writer. I majored in History in college and loved writing all those research papers! When I got the chance to start freelancing it was a natural fit.

My work has been featured in many publications including Arizona Highways, Northwest Travel & Life, She Buys Travel, Travel Awaits, Clever Girl Finance, International Food, Wine & Travel, and many more.

I’m a proud member of the North American Travel Journalist Association (NATJA), and The International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA).

Where I’ve Been

Some of My Favorite USA Travel Destinations

desert flowers

Arizona

  • Sedona
  • Tucson
  • Winslow
  • Flagstaff

A land of dramatic contrasts, Arizona is home to 3 national parks including the iconic Grand Canyon. You’ll find exciting cities like Scottsdale and charming desert towns. If you like hiking you must get to Sedona. If you like kitschy history, hit Route 66 in Arizona. And eat a lot of great Southwestern food!

Florida

  • Boca Raton
  • Crystal River
  • Anna Maria Island
  • Long Boat Key
  • Key West

Florida is a favorite escape for sure. I particularly like “Old Florida” around Crystal River and Anna Maria Island. Plus the outdoor adventures are almost unlimited – so much to see in Florida – just get off the beaten path. Make sure you leave time for one of my hands-down-must-do’s: Key West!

Louisiana

  • New Orleans
  • LaFourche Parish
  • Thibodaux
  • Lockport

Ya’ll need to go to Louisiana. Whether you want big city excitement, culture and history of New Orleans or small town vibes up and down the bayou, Louisiana has got it all. I ve been to Louisiana more than a few times and can’t wait to go back.

Maine

  • Kennebunkport
  • Portland
  • Ogunquit

Maine’s coastal beauty is breathtaking. With picturesque lighthouses, and dense forests it’s a dream destination. Acadia National Park is at the top of my list – trying not to be jealous of those who’ve been there but I’m so ready to go!! Don’t forget the Maine lobstah – like who could forget??

Nebraska

  • Omaha
  • Valentine
  • Sandhills

My home state offers a mix of big (big-ish) cities, a great food scene and lots of wide open spaces out west. Start Omaha is the largest city in the state and offers culture, cuisine and lots of entertainment. Head west and you’ll find the gorgeous sandhills , friendly small towns and rolling rivers to explore. Don’t sleep on Nebraska. to offer.

My Story

Blogging & Traveling the USA

My Travel Story

I’m a curious, inquisitive person by nature. I always want to know “why”? I’ve always been one to wonder about what’s out there in other parts of the USA. Why is southern Louisiana called Cajun country? Why is Crystal River called the Nature Coast of Florida? What’s so great about San Francisco? There’s only one way to see what a place and it’s people are like and that’s why I go. I want to find out for myself what other cities and states have to offer. I love to meet local people and experience different cultures! I always meet someone to talk to and usually find we have more in common than not. Food is also a huge part of why I travel. You can learn so much about a region through its food. Food is the great connector, no matter where you are. Join me on my quest to visit all 50 states and 63 national parks!
