I love baked goodies. Whether it’s sweet donuts or cinnamon rolls or savory french bread, count me in. Omaha has many local spots to grab homemade baked goods. These are my best bakeries in Omaha! Give them a try!

From one sugar junkie to another, believe me when I tell you that Omaha has a lot of very, very good bakeries.  All have their own specialties from cakes to breads to the little round discs of warm heaven that are donuts.

The baked goodness is plentiful in Omaha so much so that it’s impossible to pick my favorite.

To me, they’re all the best bakeries in Omaha! We think you’ll find something to love at each and every location.  If you want to know more about Omaha, check out our post on Omaha’s Old Market!

Awesome Omaha Bakeries To Try

Petit’s Pastries

502 North 16th Street and 311 North 14th.  Known for delicious cake donuts and apple fritters, Petit’s opens at the crack before dawn at 5am.  Who the heck is hankering for donuts at a5m?

That’s the middle of the night for me, when I do my BEST sleeping, but no matter.  If you’re up and at em (or still up from the night before!) you can head to Petit’s for your donut fix.

Petit’s has been a staple in downtown Omaha for 65+ years – a very long time and for good reason.  I just stopped in for a dozen donuts and I can verify those bad boys are as delish as ever!

This place is a down-to-earth, old-fashioned Omaha bakery that serves up donuts like no other.

The outside doesn’t look like much but it’s a place where a millionaire will roll up in his Audi and buy a dozen donuts, same as the guy pulling up in his 1990 Ford F-150. It’s all about the goods inside!

Petit’s is the real deal and knows what it takes to make some seriously yummy donuts.

 Sweet Magnolia’s

813 N 40th.  Known for decadent cakes, cookies and pastries.  Sweet Magnolia’s is a very small, very good bake shop located right next door to one of my favorite breakfast spots, Lisa’s Radial Café.

I love Sweet Magnolia’s – definitely at the top of my list for one of the best Omaha bakeries.

The vibe on this stretch of 40th Street is authentic.  Right down the street is Omaha’s Cathedral, the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Omaha.

This is a busy area, especially on weekends after mass. They do sell out of some favorites, including my favorite cookie sandwiches.

And, they’re also are very popular for wedding cakes.  So if you’re in need of a wedding cake, schedule your tasting appointment early.  How fun is that??

Cake Gallery

Temporarily closed until new location is complete at 120th & Center** **They are doing Wedding Cake Consults and you can find more info here. Known for cakes, cakes and more cakes.

If you can think of the flavor, they can make it.  Seriously.  They offer 33 different flavors of cakes and 38 different fillings.  Plus, you put just about any photo you want on your cake.

And, they have cake designs for just about any occasion you can think of – birthday, anniversaries, retirement, baby showers, and holidays.  You name it, they have it or they can make it.

If you have a theme in mind, bring it in and they will work with you to make it happen.  If you’re going with one of their standard designs,

The Cake Gallery has made it easy to see what your cake will look like before you order as their site shows a picture of each cake design.  This is a super nice feature.

Check out the Cake Gallery site here.    I just ordered their chocolate layer cake for my niece’s birthday and she loved it!  We get their red velvet a lot, too.  It’s a winner.

Omaha Bakery

725 N. 210th Elkhorn and 10503 S. 15th St. Bellevue.  Known for lots of amazing keto bakery items, these two locations offer up healthy twists Michelle Kaiser runs the popular Omaha Bakery whose wedding cakes and peanut butter cinnamon rolls are crowd favorites!

If you’re familiar with the Omaha area, you may remember Michelle’s previous spot out in Fremont, Alotta Brownies.  Lucky for us, Michelle decided to move her business to Omaha and rebrand as Omaha Bakery back in 2016.

After health issues began to take their toll, Michelle transformed her health doing keto and she now makes incredible keto cakes, donuts, bars & brownies. She even makes keto bread with less than 1 gram of carbs per serving. Check her out on this Keto Summit Omaha video.

Omaha Bakery, of course, does a tremendous business with a whole lot of lot of non-keto treats as well including lemon bars with real lemon that are amazing

Try the delicious zebra brownies for some serious goodness! They also specialize in wedding cakes, and they do a lot of catering business.  According to Omaha Bakery, they are looking to add lunches to the menu soon! Stay tuned!

Wheatfields

One Pacific Place 103rd & Pacific.    Known for its gigantic selection of baked goods that are ready to go, I love Wheatfields!  They always have a huge variety of yummy, homemade treats ready-made.

It’s so easy to stop in any time and grab whatever you need.

They offer a wide variety of bars, cookies, cakes, pastries, pies, cinnamon rolls, and sweet breads.

In addition, if you don’t need a whole cake or pie, or you want a mixture of delights, you can get just a slice or two.

Try my favorite – the wedding cake or the delicious cinnamon rolls.  The cinnamon rolls come with a huge container of gooey frosting.  We like to buy a big package of of the rolls especially perfect for Christmas morning!

Even though they’re just as much a restaurant as a bakery, they’re definitely on my list as one of the best bakeries in Omaha. Wheatfields has been around for a long time, and the reason is their food delivers.

Orsi’s

621 Pacific St. Known for the best bread EVER and huge pizzas.  Orsi’s has the best bread I’ve ever had.  It’s an oven baked crusty white bread that is simply the best.

We use it to make garlic bread, toast and just snacking with a smear of butter or jelly.  YUMMO.  You can hardly find it in Omaha grocery stores anymore, word is that is because there are so few preservatives in the bread, it’s hard to keep on the shelf for more than a couple of days.  So, to get the best bread around, drive down to Orsi’s.

While you’re there, take a look at their offerings in the Italian deli or order a pizza to take home.  Their pizzas are traditional Sicilian style and are extremely large and very tasty. Orsi’s is the best Omaha bakery for the savory side of things.

Olsen Bake Shop

1708 S 10th.  – Known for being the neighborhood bake shop with awesome kolaches and donuts!  We used to live around the corner from this little South Omaha gem. It’s been THE bakery in South O for more than 60 years!

I’d walk down Vinton Street and look in the window to see what was in the case at this favorite Omaha bakery.  Usually you’ll find some good-looking apricot kolaches and cake donuts.

If you’re looking for an old-school neighborhood bakery, look no further than Olsen’s Bake Shop.

Lithuanian Bakery

5217 South 33rd   Street and 7427 Pacific Street.  Known for the Napoleon Torte.  The bakery was established in Omaha way back in 1962 and is still in the family, now run by the original owner’s sons.

Try their exquisite tortes or fresh baked bread.

Warning:  the tortes are only available on Saturdays and are extremely popular!  People come early and wait in line so be prepared to do the same if you don’t want to miss out!

International Bakery

5106 South 24th Street.  Known For a very large selection of pastries and cookies, and open until 9pm most nights.

Usually when I drive down 24th Street in South Omaha, I have Mexican food on my mind.

Some of my favorite and most authentic Mexican places are on South 24th Street, including El Dorado (try their fabulous ceviche!).  Just a few doors down from El Dorado is International Bakery where you can grab your favorite sweet treat seven days a week.

Most of the sweet treats here have Spanish names, but even if you don’t speak Spanish, don’t let that stop you from ordering, if nothing else you can just point to your choice. Visit International Bakery – best Omaha bakery with international flair!

Le Petit Paris Bakery

567 North 155th Plaza in Pepperwood Shopping Center.  Known for everything you think of when you think of a Parisian bakery, but especially croissants and colorful macaroons.

Le Petit proves again that not all the best Omaha bakeries are located mid-town. This is another West Omaha spot with a very big following.

The bakery also serves good sandwiches for a quick lunch.  Owned by world famous chef Cedric, (who also owns the well-known Omaha French restaurant LaVoltaire)

Le Petit is good at everything they do and this makes them a lot of people’s favorite Omaha bakery.

Le Quartier Bakery & Café

2501 S 90th and 5026 Underwood St. Known For:  delicious breads, homemade soups for lunch.

Le Quartier is one of my lunch go-to’s.

Located in a small shopping center in central Omaha, Le Quartier serves a couple different homemade soups daily along with quiche and sandwiches. I love their creamy tomato and the fresh bread slices they serve with it.

And, I always top off my soup with one of their giant oatmeal raisin cookies that are absolutely scrumptious!  They also have a whole wheat pizza dough that is very popular.  LeQuartier reminds me of a little French bistro.  It’s quaint and it’s good.

Try their macaroons!

Great Harvest Bread

Rockbrook Village – 108th & Center. Known for:   Great Harvest makes and sells all kinds of good bread.

Right around September I start thinking of Great Harvest and my favorite seasonal bread, Chocolate Pumpkin bread.  This bread is to die for.

It’s only offered twice a week, and it usually sells out.

This bread alone puts Great Harvest on my shortlist for one of Omaha’s best bakeries. If you like pumpkin and you like chocolate (are there people that don’t like chocolate??) then you must try this bread.  You’re welcome.

LaBuvette

511 South 11th Street – Old Market. As a downtowner, I roll into the LaBuvette Grocery a couple of times a week to grab some lunch. The baguettes are freshly made and legendarily yummy.

One of those with a little curry chicken salad from the deli case, and a chocolate brownie is a simple and sublime lunch.

The deli is right next door to the formal La Buvette restaurant where you can lounge on the patio for hours, enjoying any number of baked goodies.

You’re in good hands at LaBuvette, my pick for best bakery in Omaha – Old Market.
