You know what they say: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So much breakfast to eat and so little time! A good Omaha breakfast spot, and a good brunch for that matter, is not hard to find. In fact many of the restaurants here could claim to have the best breakfast in Omaha. There are SO many great places to grab breakfast in Omaha.

waffles, breakfast, morning

The trick is to find somewhere in Omaha to get breakfast on a weekend that isn’t insanely busy! I don’t think it’s possible! Unless you are up at the crack of dawn (definitely not me), you’ll find that most everywhere is packed. But the good news is that some of these Omaha breakfast spots do provide free coffee while you wait!

But even without the free coffee, I’m betting you will enjoy breakfast from any of these restaurants. These are all local restaurants because, well to me, chain restaurants don’t compare to the local spots.

I know there are other places in Omaha for a great breakfast, but I only listed the ones I like best. And they’re in alphabetical order so as not to play favorites! I couldn’t choose my fav if I had to. It just depends on my mood. Enjoy!

Best Breakfast And Brunch Spots In Omaha

1912

6201 Maple Street

My favorite rooftop bar isn’t just all about late night time. 1912 actually does a really good breakfast brunch on the weekend that many people swear is one of the best breakfasts in Omaha. Served Saturdays and Sundays, their brunch spot has an eclectic mix of things like biscuits & gravy, chicken & waffles and caprese salad. Grab some brunch along with their super popular bottomless mimosas, Italian Fizz and or Bloody Marys and you’ve got yourself the start of a great day. 1912 is one of the best places to go for the view alone – add in their good food, and what’s not to love?

Bagel Bin

1215 South 119th Street

bagels with cream cheese

Ahhh, loved by many, the Bagel Bin is still a winner after years and years (and a fire!) The NY style bagels are top notch, probably the best in Omaha. This super casual place has been an Omaha breakfast landmark for more than 40 years!

That’s saying something! It’s saying the bagels and everything else here is delicious. You can’t go wrong with my favorite, the everything bagel. Slathered with cream cheese, it’s to.die.for.

You can get a baker’s dozen for less than $10!! Are you kidding me?!! The Bagel Bin is definitely nothing fancy – it’s more like a casual coffee shop and not a fancy restaurant, but it delivers the goods! Get yourself to the bagel bin!!

Bailey’s Breakfast

1259 South 120th Street

So many people have told me I must go to Bailey’s and try their famous “benny’s”. I finally made my way to Bailey’s a while back and sampled their crab benedict. I’m glad I did because it was quite the unforgettable breakfast!

The combination of rock crab, poached egg, hollandaise and avocado in this special take on eggs benedict was just scrumptious! Bailey’s is open everyday of the week for breakfast and lunch. And, they’re out in west Omaha for those of you who are out that way and want to stay in your hood!

More Best Breakfast And Brunch Choices In Omaha

Joe’s Cafe

6564 Maple Street

Joe’s is a cozy little retro spot in West Benson known for yummy and inexpensive breakfasts. Some say Joe’s is just another greasy spoon. I say it’s a local favorite that is worth a shot if you’re looking for good basic breakfast – think eggs, hash browns and breakfast burritos- at a good price.

Actually, they do a lot of really good breakfast food at Joe’s. My fav are their omelets – all that cheddar cheese!

And I can’t wait to try their chicken fried steak & eggs–next time! This cafe is tiny so you’ll probably have to wait for a table, but check out the counter- you might get lucky and be able to grab an open spot.

Also to note, they do lunch here as well and although I’ve never been for lunch the menu has quite a few good looking lunch options.

Kitchen Table

1415 Farnam Street

Kitchen Table is a downtown gem of a restaurant serving up fresh, homemade food in a casual, relaxing atmosphere.I love hitting the Farmer’s Market downtown on Saturday mornings and stopping in Kitchen Table, for some awesomeness. Everything they make here is mouthwatering!

Lisa’s Radial Cafe

827 N 40th Street

I absolutely love Lisa’s Radial Cafe. It’s one of my favorite places for breakfast in town! It’s a fantastic spot for breakfast any day of the week, but I (and MANY others) really love it on the weekends. There’s just something about going to Lisa’s after church on Sunday.

From the free coffee in the back room to my friend who sometimes runs the register, it’s all good at Lisa’s. And it’s great food! I especially love the stuffed French toast and those titanic totts and let’s not forget all that crispy bacon. All in all, Lisa’s is a top choice and one of the best breakfast places in town. I could go their every week and never get tired of it. Do yourself a favor and check out Lisa’s.

Oh yeah!

Louie M’s Burger Lust

1712 Vinton Street

A little gem in South Omaha, Louie M’s Burger Lust has been a staple on Vinton St. for at least 25 years. I’ve been to Louie M’s a lot over the years and I can tell you that Louie M knows what they’re doing. The food served up here is good.

For breakfast, my favorite thing on the menu is the corned beef hash & eggs. Oh yes! And you must get the Orsi bread for your toast. I could make a meal out of this delicious bread alone. Yep, it’s that good! Do yourself a favor and get to Louie M’s for breakfast. It’s a great place to just chill out and relax.

The atmosphere isn’t like what you’ll find in a lot of new restaurants. And that’s a good thing! The building itself is historic and has character. They don’t build them like this anymore.

And, if you’re hungry at lunch time, you’re in luck. They have really good burgers on the lunch menu. Their Favorite Burger is a winner – bacon, blue cheese and jalapenos. Your taste buds will thank you. Yummo!

Saddle Creek Breakfast Club

1540 N Saddlecreek Road

Saddle Creek Breakfast Club pretty much never disappoints. We’ve been here numerous times since they opened back in xx And the food is always top notch. We were here recently on a Saturday morning to celebrate my niece’s birthday.

She’s a vegan and SCBC is one of the few places in town that offers vegan breakfast options. She loved the banana bread Fench toast! My fav here are the banana pancakes. The breakfast meats are super tasty. The sausage is to die for! This is definitely one of the best breakfast spots in town and is very popular and extremely busy on the weekends.

In fact, last time we were there on a Saturday morning we had about a 60 minute wait, but the coffee was free and conversation was good, so I didn’t mind. If you do mind a wait, I’ll say go early or be prepared to wait!

TImber Wood Fire Bistro Brunch

8702 Pacific Street

Timber is what I’d consider one of the more upscale options on the list. Located in Countryside Village, Timber is a fun & lively spot for brunch. The inside of the restaurant is really incredible – just gorgeous. All the food here is cooked really creatively, either over the wood burning grill or in a brick oven.

Timber offers an unusual brunch menu on weekends, including bottomless drinks. Try one of my favorites, the jalapeno bacon shrimp skewers! It’s a little pricier than other options, but f you’re in search of a new favorite breakfast spot, Timber and their modern take on breakfast may be just what you’re looking for.

Upstream Brewery

514 S 11th Street

Upstream has an awesome Sunday brunch that’s very popular and always crowded. And I can see why. It’s one of the very few breakfast places in Omaha that serves an actual breakfast buffet – Upstream just recently brought it back!!

I love a GOOD buffet and Upstream’s breakfast buffet looks very promising. All the food is made from scratch and the buffet features an omelet station, a carving station with yummy roast beef, French toast, fresh fruit biscuits & gravy and more. I’m making reservations now!!

If you’re not into a buffet, you could order your breakfast from the menu, but at less than $20 I think the buffet is one of the best breakfast deals in Omaha.

Knowing that Upstream is consistently one of the best places in downtown Omaha to eat, I think their breakfast buffet is a totally safe bet. And if you sit outside it’s a great spot for people watching!

Wheatfields Bakery & Eatery

103rd & Pacific

Let me start by saying I’m a big fan of Wheatfields and I have been for a long time. Wheatfield;s is a good place for a weekend brunch date because everything is always SO good. From their classic cinnamon rolls to their quiche Lorraine, Wheatfield’s won’t disappoint.

Their huge breakfast menu makes Wheatfield’s a top breakfast spot in Omaha. I usually go to the One Pacific Place location, but their smaller second location in the Old Market is convenient if you’re down that way.

As a bonus, you can grab all those luscious treats they’re known for on your way out – arguably the best part of your meal! All in all, another great brunch spot in Omaha.
